The big R........

A hot sip of Madras kappi early morning  gives me a refreshing start for my day…the aroma of the coarsely ground fresh coffee beans keeps lingering in the air for quite sometime adding a dash of smile on my face…nature has such unique way of treating our senses!!!! I met him for the second time (errr I guess third) at my favorite restaurant in matunga “MADRAS CAFÉ” with my sis-in-law [henceforth referred to as molu]….few minutes into the conversation with sparks flying across the table I knew He was the one…for molu…… Mr. Sreejit Nair (aka sreeju) Welcome to our family……A new relation takes time to built up…opens ups slowly with love and care…moving ahead with truth and support from either sides…and I would like to tell u that u have done it with so much of ease..gelled up in our world without we even realizing it…was a bit surprised myself wen I dialed your number instinctively wen I was a bit messed up certain issues, and thoroughly surprised wen I found myself relieved after talking to you :) :) I never thought of a new relation coming to my life with this ease…molu, pravi all were part of my childhood so may be I am a bit surprised wen life is feasting me with a brother-in-law connection, or may be I am surprised because I never thought of it earlier :DRelationships are a part of us….they add meaning, a hope to live our life to the fullest...and I believe a relation which have built up over a period of time will never need explanations to hold them..try all the possible ways to even out the differences…vent out rather than being silent….and still if its not working out ….LET THAT BE…..like its said we always carry a part of others with us unknowingly….as Robert Frost quote says “In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on…..

P.S:  sreeju geetu wants a movie treat for this blog post, or may be a dish cooked by you  :D

P.S: molu….feels blessed to have you in my life

P.S : I dedicate tis post to all wonderful people in my life...papa, sandu , somi, fidal, mansi, khusboo, rachna, avani, sangichi, sajeeshettan, jay….the list is endless….

P.S: a special dedication to the LOVE of my life and My Bestest friend….PRaVI :)

Thattathin Marayathu
---------------------------

One of my earliest memories of watching a full blown romantic movie in Malayalam goes back to the year 1996. Kollam Chinnakada- Prince theatre. Dad booked 18 tickets for all the family and extended family members.. Too young to understand the hype surrounding 2 newcomers..Aniyathipravu was an enigma then.

3 years later during another visit to God's Own country..The same couple painted the screen with some never seen before colors of friendship and love.. Niram was over the top college romance. That was it.. The genre ended there..

Over the years, I became an ardent fan of Malayalam cinema... Figured out the best romantic films and moments were written and enacted down south. Thoovanathumbikal was a work of a genius. That famous rain scene even though it looks cliched now still can give goosebumps. Those kind of films, moments were missing from Malayalam filmdom for a long time now till Thattathin Maryathu came by.

I was pretty sure this movie wont work for me. The director's previous work dint strike a chord with me. Malarvadi was a damp squib. When something is kept away from you for long, you yearn for it more. Same was the case with me and Malayalam movies. The day I came to know that Malayalam movies gets released in Bay Area, California, I decided I will go for every movie releasing here just for old time's sake. Started with Grandmaster, 22FK, Spirit.. All good movies in their own right. The new generation movies as some say. But TM was something else.

The first 5 minutes into the movie, I thought I was watching the same old cliched stuff. Two school boys talking about love and marriage.Slowly but surely I was getting hooked. 10 minutes into the movie, I realised this is going to be special. The moment Vinod starts narrating his story, the movie takes you to another level. The next 2 hours gave me one of  the best movie going experiences. Every scene was there on purpose. Every dialogue seemed correct. Every frame was a painting.

Two scenes standout.Watch the scene where Vinod proposes Ayesha for the first time at her place. Watch the scene where she responds back in the college verandah. If these 2 scenes dont give you goosebumps, sorry to say you are not humane my friend. I tried to look around the auditorium to check if I am the ony one feeling wierd. I could see Uncles and Aunties around me trying to hide their tears. Those were happy tears. Those were for Vinod and Ayesha. How many movies can boast to do that to you. That is the power of cinema. That is the Power of love in its purest form.

Vineeth Sreenivasan you product of a cinematic genius.. You just nailed it. The background score was too good. Never heard such breathtaking sounds in a Malayalam movie before. The cinematography was top notch.. Never before did a heroine look so beautiful and a hero so madly in love. I had to do justice to myself, I had to watch the movie a second time. Thattam ennik oru weakness aayi. A must watch for all ages. I am recommending this movie to all my friends here.
